Script for Eternal Beauty

Esma-Just five minutes ago, i was a normal girl like you. A girl with a goal, a girl with friends and a girl with a family, you know...a girl like you.But just under 10 minutes that has all changed. My life has been destroyed. By the one thing we all fear. But whatever happens, stay strong, don't let it ruin you.Don't become like me..I love you...Remember me...

Esma-What's the point of living?...When there is nothing to live for. What's the point of going to bed at night?...When you're not even sure, if you would wake up the next morning?Pointless. The same as my life.Everyday i live is like a stab in my heart.Bloody, gruesome and painful. But, what can i do than just take it.As this is...MY LIFE!

Analysis into 4 drama movies

7 Pounds- The opening scene to this film is very unique in the way it creates mystery and enigma. When the film starts all you see is a black screen and then you hear this person phone the police to report a suicide. You can not see who is talking and so you do not know who the main character is. I believe the director has done this so the audience will want to watch on and find out who is the person phoning. Another enigma which is created is why is the character phoning to report a suicide. Is he going to commit suicide , has he found a close friend or family member who has committed suicide or has he killed someone and is trying to cover it up. The director wants the audience to be asking these questions , that why he does not show you who is speaking. You can already see that the genre for this film is drama as there has already been a dramatic scene and there is probably more to come. The blank screen and the deep voice over the phone will create a dramatic effect and this is what I should be doing when I create the opening sequence to my film. What the director has done well if make the audience want to carry on watching by creating mystery and enigma.

Slumdog Millionaire - Now the opening sequence of this film is unique in way it sets up the audience for the film. When the film starts you are introduced to these two boys who are searching for food. The scene is set in the slums of India and they mount a train to try and steal food from other passengers. You may be asking what is so dramatic about this scene , well the audience will be surprised by the age of theses children and the things they have to do to survive. This is why the director has started the film this way , he wants the audience to see the dangers young children face when they go in search of food. Also it sets up the audience for the rest of the film. Even though theses two children have nothing to do with the fill itself , it allows the audience to gain vital information on the struggles other characters may face. This is why I choose to analyse this film , because I gives me many ideas on how to start my film. It shows me that it is important to give your audience the information they need to understand the rest of the film.

Meet Joe Black- The opening scenes to meet Joe Black are legendary in film history. The film starts of with a typical boy meets girls situation , typical until when they go there separate ways the guy is killed in a horrific fashion. You may be wondering why this is so "legendary" , well the director has placed two strong emotions in in the opening scene and has shocked the audience by already killing off the main character , but this is why it is so unique. The audience are made to feel that they are watching a normal drama film and have no idea what is about to happen. The director follows all the codes and conventions of a drama film by focusing on the storyline , creating emotion and atmosphere between characters and finally by keeping it realistic. This is why it is such a big shock to the audience when the accident happens , this is how the director grabs the audience's attention and makes sure they want to watch on. He know that they will want to know what happens next. What I have learnt from this is that if I want to keep my audience interested I will need to include the unexpected and that sometimes its not a bad thing to break the codes and conventions of a drama film.

Eternal Beauty

Tag-Eternal beauty, look beyond the visual. A dream worth fighting for.

Pitch- Claire is placed into a battle with cancer which she can not win. She is fighting for an opportunity as well as her life. She faces many struggles as she spreads her message to the world and when she has past away her message will live on.

Treatment
We start the story by introducing our main character Claire. Claire is a 16 year old model whose ambition in life is to be successful. She is a beautiful young girl who has everything going for her until one day her dreams are put on hold as she discovers a lump in her breast. Claire is diagnosed with breast cancer and is told that she will have to undergo chemotherapy. She is devastated by the idea of losing her hair and begins to fall into depression. She sees her dream slowly slipping away and decides to lock herself away from society. Her family are also affected, as her parent’s focus all their time on her they have no time for their eldest son who turns to a life of crime. Her confidence hits rock bottom and she is a shadow of her former self, she tries to commit suicide numerous times and her mother contemplates leaving.

This is until one day during a visit to the hospital she meets a young girl who suffers from leukaemia. The girl has lost both of her legs but she one of the happiest people in the hospital. Seeing how much worse it could be Claire decides to try and get back into modelling and show people looks count for nothing. She gains press coverage and support from people around the world as she tries and sends her message to people just like her. She also gets criticism from other professional models who set up a group to campaign to stop her from being the face of a new calendar. She battles them all the way until she is given the go ahead by the company and more importantly the public who have supported her all the way.

She jumps at the chance and raises thousands of pounds for charity. Through her journey she has touched may people and given many girls hope. She carries on her work and raises even more money while still having treatment. After a year of battling she loses her battle to cancer and passes away. Research into chosen Genre ...Why is it so important?

During Fridays lesson we was asked to research the genre we had picked for our movie. Mine was drama so I had to look at films such as "my sisters keeper" and "slumdog millionaire". The point of the task was to compare the mise en scene , and to look at how the directors had opened the film. This was important as we would be shooting the first few scenes for our movie in the upcoming weeks. When looking at "my sisters keeper" I noticed that it had a very soft approach in the first screens in the movie. You see a family playing together , everything seems happy until we cut away to the terminally ill sister. This had a massive effect on me as you are shown what seems to be a perfect happy family until you realise the true extent of what the family have to deal with. The director makes places you in a comfort zone then takes you away to a shot which the audience may find hard to deal with. This is why the opening scene is so effective , because it takes the audience out of their comfort zone. This is important as it make it unique and it also shows me why it is so important to start your movie in a way which will shock your audience. It was vital that i picked up on the different techniques the director used as I may be able to use some when making my opening sequence. When going through the different movies I noticed that all the dirctors tried to grab the audiences attention in the first few scenes . so I am going to make sure I do the same.

Genre – Drama

My sister’s keeper- The opening scene for this film really determines the genre. The film starts off with a young girl who has been diagnosed with cancer narrating in the background as her family play in the garden. Ashe is describing the fun times she had with her family and how she wished she could go back to that time. The camera then cuts to the girl speaking and you see that see is suffering from some sought of disease. You are straight away knocked back by this and you can guess what type of genre the film is. Already in the first few minutes of the film you have seen the dramatic effect this girl has had on her family and how she feels exiled from the rest of he family. With the sick girl narrating in the background you are unaware of what the story is about at first. You see a happy family but the tone of the girls voice suggests that not everything is right. When the girl suddenly appears on screen you understand why she had such a sad tone in her voice. I did not expect to see this at an opening of a film so i was happy to see that a film like this has chosen a different and unique way to open their film. I thought they might have have show a sick girl in bed with her family around her or her just laying in a hospital bed thinking of the days before her disease. The characters also suit the genre as it is a family drama. None of the characters are over dreesed or look out of place.
